Carmel Elementary

Junior Counselors

Respect, Integrity, Caring, Harmony, Excellence, and Responsibility are the characteristics you must have if you want to be a leader in the real world or a Junior Counselor at ESE. Third, fourth, and fifth grade students had an opportunity to participate in the Junior Counselor club at Carmel Elementary in order to become Junior Counselors for afterschool. Students in this club did various team-building exercises and were monitored by the staff during the program day in order to become Junior Counselors for the remainder of the school year.

Junior Counselors play an important role in our program. They are entrusted to help with Kindergarten homework by reading and playing enrichment games with the students. Junior Counselors are relied upon for toy ideas and running the E-Market. They also help us with planning the enrichment clubs, field trips, and site celebrations that we host. In general, Junior Counselors serve as a liaison between the students and the staff of the ESE program.

We are proud to announce that our Junior Counselors for the remainder of the school year are: Tsion Mola, Meenakshi Sunilkumar, Cally Sharp, Addie Stein, Justin May, Alexis McGee, Michaela Hylton, Emily Archer, Ashley Elkin, Jacob Pilkenton, Jillian Cox, and Jake Stock. Congratulations!

Under the Stars of Hollywood

Our next Parent’s Night Out event will take place on Friday, March 26. On this night, we will be extending our hours until 9:00pm. In the past, we have hosted a pajama party, bowling field trip, and a costume party. This time we will be hosting a dance with the “Under the Stars of Hollywood” theme. Our Junior Counselors came up with the idea and are helping us to plan this night of fun and excitement!

“Under the Stars of Hollywood” will be an event in which students can dress formally or in costumes. Students can attend as glamorous as Elizabeth Taylor or as eclectic as a Johnny Depp character. You, the parent, may come to the event as your child’s chaperone, but your presence is not required. We are extending our hours just for you! This night of glamour will commence at 6:00 pm with dinner and entertainment on us. Please note that any student pick-up past 9:00 pm will result in a late fee. Any questions or concerns may be directed to Shavonne Holton, Site Supervisor.
