ages 1-2, are scribblers; ages 2-4 are preschematic (symbols) artists, and
children ages 3-8 progress into the schematic arena, having developed a
large set of symbols that allows for more detailed communication. Whether
it be realism, conceptualism or schematic complexity, young children express
their emotions, relationships, frustrations and observations through drawing.
