As the calendar year turns to 2007, the summer season is fast approaching
and Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation is extremely excited to introduce
the new Extended School Enrichment (ESE) Summer Day Camp Series. We’re
proud to feature nine types of summer day camps, available to children
ages 3 to 15. From our ever-popular Vacation Station to new theater
and science camps, our series is a great way for you to continue the
ESE program into the summer.

Vacation
Station (Ages 5-11)
Join the fun and become one with Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation’s
largest and most popular day camp, Vacation Station! Each week is
truly unique, as campers enjoy a wide array of activities focused
on the special themes. Daily highlights include: Monday—special
guests; Tuesday and Thursday—swimming at
The Monon Center; Wednesday—field trip, and Friday—Respect
Fest (a new activity serving as a forum for recognizing the differences
in one another, while learning to respect each other's unique traits).
Locations: Cherry Tree, Smoky Row, Woodbrook and College Wood
Dates: June 4 to July 27 (total of 8, one-week sessions)
Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Planned Activity

Per Week Fee: $150/resident, $225/nonresident
July 4th Week Fee: $120/resident, $180/nonresident

Preschool Palace (Ages 3-5)
Step into a ball of energy,
as preschool campers enter a camp filled with excitement and anticipation! Each week is truly unique,
as campers enjoy a wide array of activities focused on the special
themes. Campers will develop socialization skills, as they work
within a team atmosphere. Each camper will also have the opportunity
to create various projects, which will be available to be taken home,
in each of the weekly camps.
Location: Orchard Park
Dates: June 4 to July 27 (total of 8, one-week sessions)
Hours: 9:00 a.m.-Noon & 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Per Week Fee: $100/resident, $150/nonresident
July 4th Week Fee: $80/resident, $120/nonresident

Outdoor Explorers (Ages 5-11)
Become one with nature, as campers discover their outdoor
surroundings. Each week will include field trips on Tuesday and Thursday
to enhance the weekly focus
Location: Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation’s Meeting House,

Dates: June 4 to July 27 (total of 8, one-week sessions)
Hours: 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Per Week Fee: $125/resident, $187.50/nonresident

Alternative Minds (Ages 6-11)
Alternative Minds is
a new and unique summer day camp, created especially for children
with autism, and will focus on building on the skills and talents
of each individual throughout the summer. All staff are trained to
work with autistic children and value the opportunity to make an impact
on campers’ lives through a tremendous experience.
Each week will build upon the previous week, as the summer will focus
on a cumulative effect. Additionally, campers will have the opportunity
to swim at The Monon Center every Monday and Friday. Staff-to-camper
ratio is a minimum of 1:3.
Location: West Clay
Dates: June 4 to July 27 (total of 8, one-week sessions)
Hours: 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Per Week Fee: $200/resident, $300/nonresident
July 4th Week Fee: $160/resident, $240/nonresident
Full Summer Fee (all 8-weeks): $1,400/resident, $2,100/nonresident

Success on Stage (Ages 7-10 for Jungle
Book & 101
Dalmations
& 11-14 for Annie Jr. and
Alladin Jr.)
Campers will have the opportunity to be a part of a Disney production
this summer and to display their talents in a theatre production.
Each four-week camp will culminate with a Saturday show, with 101
Dalmatians and Aladdin Jr. on June 30 and Jungle
Book and Annie Jr. on July 28. The times and locations
of the respective shows will be announced prior to the beginning of
the camp.

Dates: June 4 to June 30 & July 2 to July 28 (total of 4, four-week
sessions)
Hours: 9:00 a.m.-Noon & 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Four Week Fee: $400/resident, $600/nonresident
Minimum/Maximum: 15/25 and 20/35 for Annie Jr.
Science
of Summer (Ages 6-8 & 9-11)
Experience the many wonders of the field of science in Science of
Summer! Campers will have the opportunity to create various projects
(which will be available to be taken home) in a hands-on setting in
each of the weekly camps.
Locations: College Wood (weeks 2/4/6/8) & Cherry Tree (weeks 1/3/5/7)
Dates: June 4 to July 27 (total of 16, one-week sessions)
Hours: 9:00 a.m.-Noon & 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Per Week Fee: $150/resident, $225/nonresident
July 4th Week Fee: $120/resident, $180/nonresident
Minimum/Maximum: 15/25
All About Art (Ages 6-8 & 9-11)
Expand your horizons through the world of art! Campers will have
the opportunity to create their own pieces of art (which will be available
to be taken home) in a hands-on setting. Various techniques will be
instructed in each of the weekly camps
Location: The Monon Center
Dates: June 4 to July 27 (total of 16, one-week sessions)
Hours: 9:00 a.m.-Noon & 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Per Week Fee: $150/resident, $225/nonresident
July 4th Week Fee: $120/resident, $180/nonresident
Minimum/Maximum: 15/25
I.M.P.A.C.T. (Ages 12-15)
Are you 12 to 15-years-old and looking to learn essential job skills?
Do you want to serve as a positive role model to children? The I.M.P.A.C.T.
(Initiative Motivation Professionalism Achievement Compassion Teamwork)
program will teach professionalism in an active format. Members
of I.M.P.A.C.T. will attend a weekly job training session that will
focus on each of the six elements of the program. Interested individuals
must be 12 by June 4, 2007 and will interview to become a member
of I.M.P.A.C.T. If selected, each member will be assigned to one
of the following summer day camps: Vacation Station, Outdoor Explorers
or Alternative Minds.

Dates: June 4 to July 27 (8 week commitment)
Hours: TBD by program leader (will be within hours of specific day
camp)
Fee (8-weeks): $500/resident (must be resident)
Minimum/Maximum: 6/12
Skyhawks Sports Camps
Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation
is once again partnering with the Skyhawks Sports Academy to bring
sports camps that will vary from week-to-week, with traditional camps
offered such as baseball, basketball and soccer. Non-traditional sports
camps such as lacrosse, golf and cheerleading will also be offered.
Further specifics regarding the Skyhawks Sports Camps will be provided
within the month.
