A: I was born in South Elgin, IL and grew up in Carmel, IN.

Q: What elementary school did you attend?
A: Woodbrook Elementary

Q: What is one of your favorite memories from elementary school?
A: I really enjoyed singing in the choir, participating in gym and track and field day athletics.

Q: What was your favorite subject in elementary school and why?
A: Well, I guess gym and music would be my favorites, but academically I liked science—especially hands-on science experiments.

Q: Why did you decide to study education in college?
A: I started coaching my neighborhood swim team and working with kids that way. I just had a passion for working with them and it carried on into my education.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?
A: Watching kids enjoy accomplishing a task or mastering a new skill, and just knowing I was a part of it.

Q: What unique skills/talents do you apply to your job?
A: I love singing, dancing and acting, so we are doing some different clubs to showcase those skills and bring them out to the children.

Q: How do you handle a “bad” day?
A: I do my best to always find the brighter side of things, always try to smile and have fun.

Q: What do you hope your Carmel Elementary ESE participants take away from the program?
A: Well, I have different hopes for different kids, but in general I want them to be respectful, tolerant, accommodating of others and to enjoy life.

Q: Why/how do you think Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation is making a positive impact in the elementary schools?
A: Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation is positively impacting children by teaching them the RICHER principles to improve basic life skills and character traits. They are also impacting children by creating a positive, fun and educational environment for children before and after school, through activities, academic assistance and awareness.
