Valentines Day Party!

On Friday, February 12th, in the FDE cafeteria, the ESE program held its second Parent’s Night Out party of the school year. Our theme this time around was Valentine’s Day! We had a variety of activities planned for our kids including dinner, a movie, arts and crafts and of course dodge ball!

We started our evening with pizza and breadsticks, and for dessert, we had Valentine cupcakes and some very special punch. We would like to thank our fourth and fifth grade students for helping us set up and serve dinner to the children in our program. They did a fantastic job.

After dinner, we set up our movie “The Lady and the Tramp” (perfect for Valentines Day) in the LGI, dodge ball was the game in the gym, and we had a very special craft project in the café. Students who wanted to do the craft project decorated stuffed puppies to give to mom for Valentine’s Day. They turned out very cute, and the parents loved them! It was a great evening for everyone who came, and we would like to thank our parents for allowing their children to come and celebrate the holiday with us!

Super Bowl Party at FDE

On Friday, February 5th, FDE had the privilege and honor of hosting our second annual Super Bowl Party. We started out our party with some special snacks to get us in the mood for some football. We had blue and white cupcakes, carrots and dip, chips and drinks. Our students enjoyed some social time before the main event in the gym…the Colts vs. the Saints!

Prior to the start of the game, each grade level made their own banners encouraging their favorite team on to victory. There were some who wanted the Colts to win and other were cheering for the Saints, so a compromise was made where the banners supported both teams. How’s that for sportsmanship? After much deliberation, the winner banner was selected from the fifth grade table. They created a terrific banner supporting the home team.

The half time entertainment was Ashton Gleckman who sang a song that he had written and played the electric guitar. He did a terrific job, and the audience loved his song and cheered for more, but there was a game to finish.

At the end of the first half, the Colts were down 2 to 0 after a solid goal line stance by the Saints. The second half belonged to the Colts as they moved the ball down field to score early in the third quarter to take the lead 7 to 2. The game ended with the same score as our Colts went on to win the FDE Super Bowl! Okay, so the Colts lost in the big game, but in our hearts they are still number 1.
