Smoky Row Elementary

Carnival

It is Carnival time at ESE! Every year, the students and staff of Smoky Row’s ESE program celebrate the fall season and all the fun it brings by throwing the best party around! This year’s Carnival is shaping up to be the best, most fun and exciting one yet. There are many amazing activities at this year’s Carnival. The centerpiece of our festivities will be a giant Moonwalk complete with a basketball hoop, a slide and a bounce area. Children of all ages and sizes will be able to run, jump and slide their heart’s content. Furthermore, we will be having a variety of games for which students will be awarded super prizes. Think you can throw a ball into a bucket while standing six feet away? If you can, and you do, then their may just be a bracelet, a stretchable frog or some animal stickers in your future!

Along with the games, we will also be providing food and refreshments. This year’s menu includes scrumptious Hot Dogs and other treats! We will also be having food for our vegetarian friends so everyone can leave with smiles on their faces and food in their tummies. We encourage parents and students to pitch in! We are thankful for all the help and understanding we receive from our great parents every day, and last year we were aided in our cause by the contributions of parents helping us out in the very best spirit of generosity.

So, if you want to attend the best Carnival of the new fall, spend time with your friends and family, play some fun games and eat some succulent food, join us at Smoky Row Elementary on September 26th, from 6:30-8:00pm. The entire staff is hard at work, ensuring that our Carnival will be the grandest one yet. This year’s Carnival will be a memory to cherish for a lifetime and a holler of a good time. We hope to see you there!

Kickboxing for Kids

If your child has energy to burn at the end of the school day, and a love for moving to music, then he or she should consider joining Kickboxing for Kids! Kickboxing is a club offered on Tuesday afternoons at 3:30-4:10 p.m. for Kindergarten through second graders, and 4:10-4:50 p.m. for third through fifth graders. The club is taught by the energetic Mr. Edwards, who is always ready to encourage the kids to move to the beat!

Kickboxing is a basic combo of punches and kicks set to music. It is fun and entertaining, plus it provides a great workout! What better after a long day in class than to stretch those muscles and smile?!

Colten Meyers, a fifth grader who participates in this club, says, “It’s (kickboxing) just a lot of fun! I’ve learned a lot of different stretches!”

“It was exciting!” said first grader, Ethan Eckstein.

Mr. Edwards says, “Come and have fun, but be prepared for a good workout!”

All are agreed… on Tuesday, kickboxing is the way to go! If kickboxing continues to be a success, look for this club to return in the future!
