CCPR to Host Annual Holiday Tree Recycling Event Jan. 5

Carmel, Ind. (December 5, 2023) – Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation (CCPR) will host a Holiday Tree Recycling event on Friday, January 5, from 1-4 p.m. at Westermeier Commons in Central Park, 920 Central Park Dr.

To participate in the drive-through style event, community members can bring their live, decoration-free holiday tree to the Westermeier Commons parking lot. CCPR staff and volunteers will unload the tree, and it will be donated to Xanderbuilt Tree Care to be mulched. Free warm refreshments will be available as a thank you.

Last year, CCPR held its second Holiday Tree Recycling and community members collectively donated 121 trees.

“Recycling holiday trees gives them a second life,” shared Caitlin May, CCPR volunteer coordinator. “When live trees are tossed in a landfill, their nutrients are unable to return to the environment when they decompose. By recycling them, we can repurpose them in a way that benefits the environment and our community. We are proud to support a more sustainable holiday season with this event.”
