Meet Lily Green

What was your summer position with the CCPR team?

I was a counselor at Adventures in Art camp and will be starting my first summer as a head counselor with Adventures in Art this summer.

How long have you worked with CCPR?

I have worked with CCPR for 5 years.

Why would you recommend working for CCPR’s summer team?

I would highly recommend working for CCPR’s summer team because of the encouraging work environment it provides. There is a positive culture among all staff that promotes an uplifting community of individuals all working toward a common goal. Working with such a supportive staff has made my work experience with CCPR extremely enjoyable, hence why I return every summer!

What’s something you’re most proud of while working at CCPR?

I am most proud of the improvements I have made as a summer camp counselor while working at CCPR. Every summer that I return, I feel that my skills as a counselor improve whether it’s within group management or facilitating activities. CCPR has an appraisal system where I can meet with my supervisor and discuss my progress. I always enjoy these conversations because I feel recognized for the work that I have done and supported as I continue improving.

What was your summer position with the CCPR team?

During the summers of 2020-2022, I worked as a part of the food service attendant team at The Waterpark concession stand.

How long have you worked with CCPR?

I have worked with CCPR for 3 years.

Why would you recommend working for CCPR’s summer team?

Being a part of the CCPR team allows you to make connections and friendships with great people. CCPR offers positions for any skill level. Anyone can find a position suited to them at CCPR. The Waterpark is a great opportunity to work if you’re a student, and scheduling is usually flexible.

What’s something you’re most proud of while working at CCPR?

Once, the concession stand received an order for 37 ice cream cones. Getting through that order definitely made me and the team proud of ourselves!

Meet Jordan Morford

What was your summer position with the CCPR team?

This past summer I worked as a lifeguard and as a top guard for the CCPR facility.

How long have you worked with CCPR?

Applying when I was just 15, I have worked three years at the MCC/The Waterpark and plan on continuing into my fourth year for this upcoming summer!

What’s your favorite part of your job with CCPR?

The best part of working as a lifeguard for CCPR is the environment. After working a while, there is just a nostalgic feel to the whole place. It’s smelling the sunscreen when you step into the locker room, preparing for a day under the sun.  It’s bonding with your coworkers as you rotate each other through stands. It’s feeling the adrenaline rush when you respond to an emergency, or feel the gratitude from parents as you jump in to save their kid. It’s working with people and for people. Yet, the best part is the experience you get by working through different situations and circumstances that put you out of your comfort zone. It’s challenging at first, but it amazing how it helps you develop over time.

Why would you recommend working for CCPR’s summer team?

Working through the summer as a lifeguard is an amazing experience. If you want something for a resume, it’s a great statement maker. It’s also good for just getting hands on experience in first aid, customer service and leadership skills. My favorite part though is that I get to be outside all day in the sun. It’s fast paced and stimulates the mind. Each day is something new and you never know what will happen. There can be slow days and fast days and adrenaline rushing days. Its always the highlight of my summers because there are so many stories to tell when the day is over.

What’s something you’re most proud of while working at CCPR?

When I first joined the CCPR team, I was a nervous wreck. I never had a job before and working in a position where I “save lives” absolutely terrified me. I had this deep fear that I would mess up, or not be a good enough lifeguard to work at the facility. But as I stayed and worked through new situations, receiving advice and support from other guards and managers along the way, I slowly started to feel more comfortable. This environment I had feared became the environment I grew to love. Bit by bit through the summers, I gained confidence and leadership skills, working well under pressure and in a professional environment. I’m proud of how much I’ve matured and grown as a person.
